| For almost as long as the MZRC has been in existence, there has
been a magazine to help the club keep contact with its widely spread
membership.
'The Official Journal of the MZ Riders Club', and was first sent out to members in 1975. The Journal took an A5 format, consisting of 16 pages, and contained a similar spread of information to that of the magazine today. Issue 1 of 'MZ Rider' was published in 1978, and is still in print today. Each magazine took on the personality of the Editor at the time, producing not only a varied content over the years, but also kept the magazine moving with the times, never going stale. Up to Issue 100, published in 1995, producing the magazine was a lengthy affair, made by hand, using a typewriter, photocopies and a big pot of glue to literally 'cut and paste' it together. When technology caught up with the club, the power of computer publishing made it possible for anyone with a bit of time and computer know-how to produce the magazine, allowing for wider range of format possibilities. It has often been said that MZ Rider is one of the most lively club magazines in the UK, and this could never have been said to be true without the enthusiasm and commitment of the membership as a whole to provide genuinely interesting and informative articles, and the skills of the Editors to produce the magazine. If you have an MZ or Simson related article or advert you would like to see in MZ Rider, please send it to the Editor. Letters should be in Word6, RTF or TXT format, or written in the email. Unfortunately photographs sent via e-mail for use in the magazine can not be accepted. Please keep adverts short and to the point, and they must include either a home address or land-line telephone number. Trade adverts should also be declared. |
